Southwest Ohio Regional Data Center


The Southwest Ohio Regional Data Center (SORDC) of the University of Cincinnati is a major regional resource for individuals and organizations needing demographic and economic data. The SORDC is affiliated with the Ohio Data Users Center, the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The products and services available through the SORDC can help your organization:

  1. Compare the demographic characteristics of different geographic areas.
  2. Study the relationships among demographic and economic characteristics of the region.
  3. Examine changes in demographic characteristics or economic indicators over time.
  4. Select business sites or plan marketing campaigns.
  5. Provide documentation required for grant applications.

Social, Behavioral and Health Science Data Archive 
The Institute for Policy Research maintains the Social, Behavioral and Health Science Data Archive – a support unit at the University of Cincinnati that provides access to secondary data collections for research and instructional use. The Archive maintains over 20,000 individual machine-readable files in its collection.  Data Archive

Information and Referral. Most of the time people who contact the SORDC have just a few questions they need to have answered. Many of their questions can be answered over the telephone free of charge or by a referral to a depository library where printed reports from the Bureau of the Census are available.

Analytical Services. The staff of the SORDC is experienced in the areas of demographic and economic analysis, evaluation research, policy analysis and information systems. Special analytical services available include consultations and seminars, demographic projections, and the design of computerized databases.

Geographic Analysis - Graphic Information System (GIS). Geographic analysis of demographic and economic data can provide rich detail that is otherwise unavailable. The SORDC staff has extensive experience with geographic data and analysis including geocoding, thematic mapping and spatial analysis.
